What does the locked bonnet contribute at high pressure?
The bonnet assembly locks so line vibration and operating torque cannot back the packing off the stem threads - at 6,000 psig a loose bonnet is a leak path, not an inconvenience. Combined with a non-rotating stem (so the seating tip does not lap against the seat on closing) and live-loaded packing, the execution keeps its seals through the pressure and thermal cycles typical of instrumentation service.
How do I choose between the stem tip options?
The benchmark page lists metal seal stems in V, metering, regulating and metering-tip forms plus a PCTFE soft tip. V tips serve general shutoff and coarse throttling, metering and regulating tips give fine flow control for sample and injection duties, and the PCTFE soft tip gives the tightest gas shutoff - at the cost of the pressure/temperature envelope of the soft tip material.
What end connections and orifice sizes does the range cover?
Orifice sizes 0.156, 0.250 and 0.437 in (3.96 to 11.1 mm), end connection sizes 1/8 to 1/2 in on tube fittings (6 to 12 mm), with NPT, socket weld and tube fitting end types. Larger orifices trade control fineness for flow capacity, so match the orifice to the controlled flow rather than defaulting to the largest.
