What does the bellow seal add over a standard packed globe valve?
A welded metal bellows isolates the stem from the medium, with the packing acting only as a secondary back-up seal. That keeps stem leakage at instrument-detectable levels over many more cycles, which is why bellow seal executions are specified for hazardous, toxic or fugitive-emission-sensitive media. The trade-off is cost and a bounded bellows cycle life — sized correctly for the travel, it outlives repeated re-packing of a conventional gland.
Is SS304 the right body material for my medium?
SS304 (CF8 cast equivalent on the bonnet and disc) is the general-purpose stainless for water, steam, and a wide range of chemicals at moderate temperature. It is not the choice for chloride-rich media, where pitting drives selection to SS316 or duplex grades — the same benchmark family exists in an SS316 execution. State medium and temperature in the inquiry and the material confirmation comes back with the quotation.
What information is needed to quote an SS304 bellow seal globe valve?
Provide nominal diameter (DN15 to DN400 on the benchmark page), PN rating (PN16 to PN40), medium and temperature, end connection (DIN flange per DIN 2543-2545 or butt weld where offered), and actuation preference. If the valve replaces an installed unit, give the face-to-face dimension so the DIN 3202 layout is confirmed.
