BD343 Jacketed Butterfly Valves

The BD343 series is the flanged, triple-offset metal-seated butterfly valve with an external heating jacket: steam or a compatible hot gas circulates around the body so media that would freeze the valve solid at ambient temperature — solidifying, crystallizing or high-viscosity product — stays mobile through the full bore. The series spans DN50 to DN2000 at PN16 with a working temperature window of -29°C to 425°C.

Application & selection guidance

Specify the jacket against the heating medium available on the line (steam or compatible hot gas), then match body, stem and sealing-surface materials to the product and temperature: WCB through CF8M, chrome-moly and low-temperature steels, nickel alloys, nickel-copper alloy and duplex are offered, with flexible-graphite sealing surfaces, cobalt-chromium hardfacing alloy or tungsten carbide where abrasion and temperature demand them. Flanged ends per ISO 5752 face-to-face and GB/T 9113 / ASME B16.5 / B16.47 flange drilling; worm gearbox, pneumatic or electric operation.

Frequently asked questions

When is a jacketed butterfly valve the right choice?

When the handled media solidifies, crystallizes or turns too viscous at ambient temperature — the jacket keeps the body heated with steam or a compatible hot gas so the product stays fluid inside the valve rather than seizing the disc.

What pressure and temperature range does the BD343 series cover?

The series is rated PN16 across DN50 to DN2000, with a service temperature window of -29°C to 425°C. Body options run from WCB and stainless grades through chrome-moly, low-temperature steel, nickel alloy, nickel-copper alloy and duplex.

Which standards govern dimensions and testing?

Design is per API 609, face-to-face per ISO 5752 or approved manufacturer drawing, flanges per GB/T 9113, ASME B16.5 or ASME B16.47, and testing per GB/T 13927 or API 598.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Ask for the documentation set you need with the inquiry — typical items for this execution (material certificates, test reports to the listed inspection standard, dimensional drawings) are confirmed and supplied with the quotation.

Quotation

A quotation-ready inquiry states: nominal size and pressure rating, body and seat material preference, end connection, operation, and the service medium with temperature. Typical values on this page are benchmark reference ranges; the binding values are confirmed at quotation.

Sample & supply

Supply terms, order quantities and lead time are agreed per order — state the destination country and required schedule with the inquiry.

Storage & shipping

Store valves with seats and seals protected from UV, ozone and deformation, keep end-face protectors on until installation, and for elastomer- or PTFE-seated executions avoid prolonged outdoor storage — seat compounds age fastest in direct sunlight and freezing conditions.
