How does a double-disc gate differ from a solid wedge gate?
Closing drives a top wedge between two parallel discs, pressing each outward onto its own seat face; sealing force comes from the valve mechanism rather than forced interference of one wedge, so tight shutoff holds even when pipeline loads distort the body.
