How does a platen-type pinch valve close the line?
The handwheel drives a trolley and platen that press the elastic rubber bushing from the outside until the passage collapses; only the bushing touches the medium, so abrasive or granular solids never reach seats, gates or packing. Releasing the handwheel lets the bushing spring back to full bore.
